Madagascar is an island located a little less than 200 miles off of the shore of the African country Mozambique. This is at the south-eastern end of Africa in the Indian Ocean. The country is about 587,000 square kilometers, in comparison, thats around 7% of the total area of the United States. Madagascar's terrains is quite comparable with that of the island of Oahu. It has a flat coastal plane but towards the center it becomes quite mountainous. Maromokotro is the highest mountain on the island, measuring at about 2,876m high! It is that larger white patch in the center of the map above.

I am also going to include this image that I found... I NEVER realized just how big Madagascar really is. It is actually the fourths largest island in the world.

Then here is how big Hawaii is compared to the same US location...

  1. Cool blog. There are a lot of similarities between this country and Australia which I am representing. Both countries are their own Island surrounded by ocean, and is located on the southern hemisphere, also located in the same climate zone.
The area of Madagascar compared to my country is a huge difference. Australia is almost the same size as the US. The geography is also very different. Madagascar is very mountainous towards the center while Australia has huge areas consisting deserts.
